Vitt has covered fashion, shopping, style and culture in her hometown of Portland, Ore., for more than 10 years, writing for print and Web publications including Lucky Magazine, The Oregonian, Willamette Week, Women’s Wire (iVillage), Oregon Bride and many others. Now operating independently, Vitt brings to The Neat Sheet high style standards, journalistic integrity and years of newspaper and magazine experience that will help provide the valuable Portland fashion and style news coverage local women want and need.

“The Neat Sheet is a brand new kind of media I like to call a ‘blogazine,’” Vitt said. “It has the immediacy and casual, friendly voice of a blog, the visual appeal and news content of a women’s magazine, and news standards that make it more reliable and readable than so many fashion blogs out there.”

The Neat Sheet gives Portland women the daily scoop on new products and merchandise; sales, deals and discounts; neat local boutiques; street style snapshots; spas and salons; hip restaurants and bars; fun events; cool hotels; travel ideas and more. The emphasis is local, but we’re not afraid to mix it up sometimes and share something neat if we happen to find it at a chain or a big box store.

“Like many Oregon women, it’s as important to me to hit the trail as it is to hit the town, so The Neat Sheet will do its best to offer style coverage that reflects a balanced life. In other words, we’re as likely to give props to a cute pair of hiking shoes as we are to talk up a new lipstick. And along with the fluff, we’ll also strive to cover events that give back to charities and help others.”

NEAT contributing writer, Erin Flesch

In addition to celebrating a New Year’s redesign for 2010, The Neat Sheet also celebrates the arrival of new contributing writer Erin Flesch. Flesch is a fashion writer and blogger who loves everything Portland has to offer (especially the food and the burgeoning indie design scene).

She has written for publications including Oregon Bride magazine, Willamette Week and Brass magazine, and she most recently worked as an Assistant Marketing Director in the bridal industry. She says she enjoys drinking, design, feathers, bow ties, big hair and writing about things much cooler than herself – but we must say she’s very cool (and bright and funny), so that’s a tall order. In addition to reading her work here at The Neat Sheet, you can also check out Erin Flesch’s personal blog here.

NEAT contributing writer, Marianne Schnell

A denim expert, fit specialist and style aficionado who can also celebrity gossip you under the table, Schnell writes The Neat Sheet’s weekly Neat TREND articles. She’s tall, she’s loud, and she won’t stop talking about fashion and shopping so we had to put her to work. In addition to her background as an apparel designer and personal stylist, she is a regular contributor to local fashion photography and apparel-related creative endeavors. In her spare time she does not enjoy the outdoors unless it involves working on her tan. You can also check out her über-judgmental style and trend forecasting blog at www.thestyletrial.com.

NEAT contributing writer, Monique Balas

Unlike Schnell, Balas is neither tall nor loud. But she does write large. Balas has covered fashion, business, education, travel, environment and fun things you can drink, like wine and coffee, for newspapers and magazines locally and nationally. We’ve read her work in The Oregonian, Portland Business Journal, Vancouver Business Journal, The Bend Bulletin and many more, now including The Neat Sheet. Balas, who has called Portland home for a decade,  joins us as a local fashion news contributor and  copy editor. In her “spare time,” Balas has no spare time. When she’s not busy writing for Neat Sheet, she’s the communications director for the Northwestern University Alumni Club of Portland and is active in the Oregon News Incubator. Or she’s playing with her kitties, watching foreign films at Costello’s Travel Caffe, running or trying to figure out how to knit.
