Feast your eyes on this: Portland fashion design student Claire Katharine Wolfson has turned out a gorgeous senior collection, and she’s just one of many new talents to watch on the runway at this weekend’s “A Feast for the Eyes Fashion Show.” The Art Institute of Portland’s annual graduate show will be held at the Oregon Convention Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday, June 5.
Wolfson’s senior collection (shown top and right) is vintage in feel, with thoroughly modern ease. She said her designs were inspired by an old house from the 1700s, filled with antiques and trinkets, and that she imagined the young women wearing her pieces as picking up their bags to travel back in time. In affect, that time travel theme adds a futuristic feel to her mix of softly colored coatdresses, which have fantastically dramatic details at the collars and sleeves.
A total of 18 senior collections will be showcased at this year’s fashion show fundraiser, which also entails a V.I.P. cocktail reception and an opening act of juried, food-inspired fashion. Sushi roll hats and coffee filter gowns, anyone?
Guests also can take part in a silent auction to benefit the Oregon Food Bank and the school’s Creative Arts Scholarship fund. One item up for grabs in the silent auction is a NEAT Goody Bag from The Neat Sheet and friends, which contains nearly $300 worth of fantastic fashion and beauty booty from local shops and designers.
As a media sponsor of the “Feast for the Eyes” fashion show, The Neat Sheet wishes to thank the following generous folks for contributing to this charitable cause, and we encourage you all to come out and place your bid to win this ginormous bag of Neat STUFF:
- Dahlia ring and matching dahlia hair pins from Plume handmade jewelry
- Artful handmade tile coaster + hotplate set from Salty Teacup boutique
- “Portland” knee-high socks from Rock Socks

- 90-minute makeup lesson + skincare session with Blush Beauty Bar
- Colorful cotton tote bag from Green Pea Studio
