Hop on over to Alberta St. for art, food + fashion fun!

Of all the city’s sunny, stylish Saturday destinations (and we’re in luck ‘cuz there are many this weekend), the 11th annual Alberta Art Hop holds the most mass appeal for lovers of local art, food and fashion. Head to Northeast Portland tomorrow and while away the day browsing and grazing more than 200 craft and food vendors, which will fill the streets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 15.

More than 15 blocks of Northeast Alberta Street will be closed to car traffic for this year’s event, “ABC: Art Builds Community,” and visitors will be treated to daylong entertainment from more than 150 local artists, including interactive art events, craftspeople, music, dance and theater performances, and food vendors. And, of course… wait for it… SHOPPING.

Lest you forget, shopping is an art, too, and most of the neat Alberta Street boutiques we know and love will be holding sidewalk sales and specials in conjunction with the Art Hop. Be sure to visit Garnish Apparel (1524 N.E. Alberta St.; 503-282-3200) for a sidewalk sale and deals on pretty spring clothing from designer Erica Lurie; Frock Boutique (1439 N.E. Alberta St.; 503-595-0379) to make your own contribution to their sidewalk chalk mural; PedX Shoes (2230 N.E. Alberta St.; 503-460-0760) to scope new sandals from Gentle Souls and save on hot hot Hala style shoes from Esska; and Local Discoveries (1627 N.E. Alberta St.; 503-209-3956) for handmade jewelry, candles, soaps and pretty gift items.

Art Hop, we’re ready to shop!
