Exquisite Portland milliner Dayna Pinkham has been turning out haute headwear at her downtown shop, Pinkham Millinery, for 10 years this month. Tonight she’ll celebrate with a 10th anniversary party, spring collection launch and the start of her annual sample sale, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, March 18.
Stop by the shop tonight to congratulate Pinkham with a champagne toast to her hard work and success, plus enjoy appetizers, preview the new spring collection of straw styles suited to the upcoming Kentucky Derby, and snatch up fall felt sample styles at huge discounts. Pinkham is marking down many hats by as much as $100 to make room for the new straw collection. “The goal is to get them on happy heads,” she said.
“It’s pretty amazing that I’ve been able to run this crazy little business for so long, Pinkham said about her 10-year run. “It’s an obscure idea to have a shop where every single hat is something I’ve made. I’m really proud of it, and that I’ve been so welcomed by the city. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
If you can’t make it to the shop tonight, keep your eye out for the Pinkham Millinery Derby Days coming up the first week of April, when Pinkham will begin showing and taking orders for custom made hats for the Kentucky Derby.
