After its hit show last February, Doomtown Productions has decided to release an encore performance of its successful annual Sweet F.A Rock & Roll Fashion Show. The sex-drugs-rock-n-roll fantasy fueled runway show is happening once again, this time in downtown Portland from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. this Saturday, September 4.
Sweet F.A. tends to be quite a raucous, party-heavy experience, and it is a perfect representative of Portland’s well documented wild-side fashion aesthetic. Boring and quiet this show is not. Instead of walking down the runway dead-eyed and straight faced, models at F.A. (both male and female) dance down the catwalk to heavy metal tunes and screaming applause.
Designers showing this year include local darling Alyson Clair of Clair Vintage Designs, the latex-laden Squeak Designs (right), Carolyn Hart, Diana Pingul, Moovmint, Owl Haus and acclaimed local menswear craftsmen Adam Andreas. Designs this year are poised to the run the sartorial gauntlet from sweet to scandalous and trippy to tailored. Let’s just say, you’d be hard pressed to find a more eclectic mix of designers.
Tickets can be purchased for $8 now at brownpapertickets.com or for $10 at the door. Music will be handled by The Black Mercies and DJ Gregarious. If you’re looking for some full-on local fashion amusement, you’ll find it nowhere better than at the Sweet F.A. runway show.
