California Closets owner Judy Romano and several independent local fashion designers will join forces this weekend to present a spring fashion show that benefits kidney health, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday, March 13.
“It’s the Fashion: To Love Your Kidneys” will benefit the MIKE Program (Multicultural Integrated Kidney Education), a cause close to Romano’s heart after she herself suffered from polycystic kidney disease and underwent a kidney transplant in fall of 2009.
Dr. Cheryl Neal, who heads up the MIKE Program (and whose late husband Dr. Michael Hartnett treated Romano in the past) designed the fashion show to raise awareness and funding to educate disenfranchised youth about healthy lifestyles to counter kidney disease.
Local personality Byron Beck will co-emcee the event with Ayanna Bershire, and featured designers include Christa Taylor (left), Betty Jean Couture, Bon Lou Couture, O’Pearl Jewelry and The Real McCoy purses.

Karen,
Maybe your boss should talk to my boss.
Are there three of you? How in the world do you have your fingers of the pulse of what’s happening and simultaneously have the other fingers on the key pad typing it in. Never have I ever seen such a hard worker. Hope your boss treats you right.
xoxo
