Stylish Iconniversary party at Icon Tattoo Studio

The gals running Icon Tattoo Studio understand that tattoos are just another stylish accessory, especially here in Portland. So, last year Icon owner Melanie Nead relocated to a stylish space on North Russell Street and expanded to include a retail department. Now the pretty people will celebrate a year of success with a two-day Icconiversary event this Friday, Sept. 3 and Saturday, Sept. 4.
Stop by any time between noon and 9 p.m. Friday to get inked on a budget – the studio will offer $25 tattoos all day, which you can choose from hundreds of original flash designs created just for the event.
Then come back Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to late to celebrate with a huge par-tay in the lofty brick studio, where you’ll enjoy a free bar courtesy of Widmer Brothers Brewing, specialty cocktails from Pink Slip Jams, free samples of locally made Fifty Licks Ice Cream (try the maple bacon or whiskey flavors!), a raffle and… SHOPPING!
Golddust Vintage will set up a vintage pop-up shop at the party, and you can also shop and save 25 percent on Icon’s retail goodies – an artful collection of jewelry, cards and accessories from local designers, including NEAT favorite Brehan Todd Designs.
Nead set out last year to connect the art of tattooing with other fine crafts, and to showcase non-tattoo artisans. She views tattoos a bit like jewelry – a decorative way to accentuate your body — and she couldn’t be more pleased with the first-year results.
“This has been an amazing, exhausting and incredible year for us,” Nead said. “The love, support and excitement we’ve felt in response to our move has been truly overwhelming, and we can’t wait to show our appreciation with a celebration that’ll knock people’s socks off!”
