Portland’s most stylish shoppers have frequented Pearl District boutique Mabel and Zora for exactly four years now, gravitating from all corners of the city toward the shop’s retro-chic stash of party dresses, locally made jewelry and original gift items. Come help celebrate Mabel and Zora’s fourth birthday this First Thursday with an in-store party and GemKitty custom jewelry trunk show, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 3.
“We feel so honored to be a part of the Portland boutique landscape for four years now,” said Tiffanee Bean, who co-owns the shop with her husband Corey Bean. “We have grown and evolved into exactly the store we set out to be, and we are thrilled to have found a customer base that enjoys our product mix as much as we do.”
Right now that neat product mix includes new spring and summer tops, dresses, skirts, sweaters and more from Eva Franco, Trina Turk, Milly and Veronica M. What’s more, all dresses will be marked down by 10 percent during the party and continuing through Sunday, June 6.
Mabel and Zora’s anniversary party also serves as a GemKitty Jewelry Trunk Show, offering a rare in-person glimpse at Arwa Jumkawala’s local line of custom-made, semi-precious gemstone jewelry. Online retailer GemKitty.com gives novice jewelry designers the ability to create pieces online from a choice of materials, digitally playing with thousands of combinations, and the final design is then physically crafted by GemKitty’s expert jewelry makers. Fun!

After years of buying from other designers and curating her popular shop, Bean has just announced she will now try her own hand at fashion design. “I am currently working on designing my own clothing line that will have the same aesthetic as the store: A sophisticated women’s line inspired by classic styles from the 1950’s and ’60s. It’s in its beginning stages right now, but the designs are flowing and we hope to have a few pieces in the store by the middle of summer.”
