As if this weekend wasn’t hot enough, shops and businesses all along Portland’s Northwest 23rd Avenue are prepping for three sizzling days of a hot summer fashion and shopping at the Northwest 23rd Avenue Street Fair + Fashion Show, running Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11.
In celebration of Nob Hill’s recent makeover, merchants lining the street will host sidewalk sales, local music and art, roller derby (what?!) and a fashion show featuring IDOM’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection (top) at noon on Saturday, July 10.
Art Alexakis of Everclear fame will serve as master of ceremonies at a ribbon cutting with former Mayor Bud Clark, kicking off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by entertainment by the Rose City Rollers, the fashion show, live karaoke and deals and discounts at most shops on the strip.
In addition to the entertainment, we’re especially eager to scope out the designer deals at Amai Unmei, Girlfriend’s Boutique, Galore, Idom, Frumoasa Boutique, Blush Beauty Bar, Souchi and Zelda’s Shoe Bar.
Zelda’s will offer especially hot deals. Save 30 to 50 percent on all summer shoes, plus save 20 percent on handbags and a find a table of $50 items. If you spend $50, you’ll receive a free makeover at Blush Beauty Bar with your purchase, and a 15 percent savings pass to Girlfriend’s Boutique.
All this amid tables of treats and $5 food fixes at local eateries, street performers, chair massages, pet adoptions from The Pixie Project + Family Dogs New Life and a Hip Hound pet parade. You can even get a Sharpie tattoo or have your blood pressure checked. With all this excitement in the hot hot heat, that’s probably a good idea.
