“Portraits + Fashion” event Thursday at Parallel boutique

Pearl District boutique Parallel invites spring shoppers to stop by for an art reception and first look at new spring fashion arrivals, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Thursday, March 11.
Local artist Ariana Harley will show a collection of mixed-media and oil portraits, featuring characters as disparate as Barack Obama and Maria de Madeiros (the actress in Henry and June); and Parallel will show off new spring arrivals.
Shop for new “disheveled prep” tops and dresses from Trovata (left), boatneck tops from Lutz & Patmos, leather clutches, coin purses, tops and tunics from Paul & Joe Sister, boyfriend shirts, drawstring dresses and tops from Rag & Bone, and more springy stuff from Prairie Underground, Tocca, Underligne by Doo.Ri and others.
What’s more? Proceeds from the event will benefit Southeast Portland’s Richmond Elementary School, which means you’re really buying that crazy-cool Armand Basi cowlneck trench coat for the good of the children.
