2010, what?! Radish Underground will celebrate the final First Thursday of the year with a Local Designer Opening featuring apparel designer Heather Treadway and jewelry designer Betsy Cross of Betsy & Iya, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Thursday, Dec. 3.
Treadway, who’s been producing her Paperdoll Fashion line in Portland for the past eight years, is now producing new designs under her own name from the studio she shares with fellow multi-talented (fashion, music, art, being cute, etc.) Portland designer, Emily Katz.
Radish Underground’s opening will feature Treadway’s latest handmade and one-of-a-kind designs, including oversized wool cloaks, capelets, jersey dresses and denim skirts. You also can get your hand on (and your arms into) a long-sleeved version of Treadway’s popular FutureZ Jacket, a rather awesome and futuristic looking sweatshirt-style zip jacket that will be sold exclusively at Radish.
Also discover new jewelry from Betsy & Iya, whose bold, oversized collections reflect designer Betsy Cross’ theater background. Cross will be on hand to show off some new pieces created from mixed-metals, antiqued objects and vintage Art Deco plastics. We especially love her Bad Boy Necklace and Quintessential Lovebird Earrings.
While you sip wine and shop, view the Radish Underground Holiday Collective Show. The art show and sale features the work of seven local artists who’ve created paintings, photos, ink drawings and sculptures all priced at $100 or less to inspire shoppers to give the gift of art. Sounds like a nice little last First Thursday.
