Stella & Dot jewelry trunk show at Mabel and Zora

Playful Pearl District boutique Mabel and Zora will celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with champagne, cupcakes and a fun Stella & Dot jewelry party, noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 13.

San Franciso-based jewelry maker Stella & Dot has become quite a style sensation in the last year or so, growing from a sales team of just 500 to more than 4,000 “stylists” who now show and sell the collections across the U.S. and in Canada. Stylists host parties, like this Saturday’s event at Mabel and Zora, where women can come with friends, try on jewelry from many of the Stella & Dot collections, and order their favorite pieces – most priced between $15 and $250.

While this mass market approach to selling jewelry might be a turnoff for some, Stella & Dot is worth a look – mostly because they’re creating such consistently gorgeous, on-trend jewelry, but also for giving so many people (mostly women) the opportunity to earn a solid income doing something they love. Stylists take home more than half the revenue, and even sales on the company’s Web site are credited to individual sellers.

But enough with the nitty gritty – it’s the jewelry we love. Pouring through the Stella & Dot Spring/Summer 2010 Look Book is almost as much fun as drinking champagne and eating cupcakes will be on Saturday. There are more than 12 collections that seem to touch on every spring trend ever dreamed up – from dramatic statement sparkle to casual, everyday pieces – and they’re all beautifully designed and photographed.

Find bold, bright Palm Beach floral beaded necklaces and enamel bracelets in coral and lime; chunky Bohemian turquoise necklaces and wrist cuffs named for Sayulita, Mexico (where so many Portlanders visit each year it’s pretty much becoming a sister city); and delicate, intricately woven pieces from a Passage to India collection (top). And that’s just to name a few.

Mabel and Zora boutique will offer special deals throughout the afternoon, in addition to the treat, and you’ll be able to enter a drawing to win piece of Stella & Dot jewelry.

Plus, check out the Mabel and Zora’s new arrivals, which include Hanky Panky panties in spring shades (or leopard and cherry prints if you want something special for Valentine’s Day); and spring dresses from Trina Turk, Max & Cleo and Ella Moss.
