We all know Portland has a killer music scene, envied by big cities and podunk towns alike. Now more than ever, our fashion star is on the rise as well. Come celebrate both, and a new decade of Portland fashion domination, at the annual Sweet F.A. Rock ’n Roll Fashion Show, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Fez Ballroom on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Put on by Doom Town Productions, this Rock ’n Roll fashion show ain’t no cookie-cutter runway affair. It is a madcap celebration of everything that makes Portland awesome: killer music, offbeat fashion and amazing people.

The theme for this year’s show is a fashion-and-music-fueled celebration of the end of the first decade of the 21st Century and the start of a new one, symbolized by the chaos that remains in the wake of every great party: The evidence of fun well-had. Think empty bottles littered everywhere, confetti blanketing the floor and half-filled flutes of champagne. Basically, how Portland rolls.

Portland designer Alyson Clair, who will show her 2010 Spring/Summer collection at the show, considers the event “the best fashion show in Portland.” Clair says, “It is not your traditional show – the models are diverse and have great energy on the runway. The crowd really gets into it, and the choreography changes things up from just walking up and down a runway. So it’s basically like fashion eye candy the entire show, with good music or an awesome daydream.”

Other designers showing collections on the runway include Adam Andreas, Alexis Buck, Flood Clothing, Amy Elizabeth Couture and more. The Upsidedown and DiscJockey Gregarious will provide the music. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at brownpapertickets.com or for $12 at the door on the night of the show.
