Sulu + Hubris trunk shows at Union Rose First Friday

It’s not easy going from a being an elementary school teacher in the Bronx to a Portland-based jewelry designer (actually, maybe it is. Sounds like a pretty awesome transition to us).
But that’s exactly what Sue Lieu, the woman behind Sulu designs, did. Judging from how often we’ve seen her artsy stone earrings in local boutiques around town lately, we have to say, she made the right choice.
You can catch a glimpse of Sulu jewelry designs during the Montavilla first Friday festivities at Union Rose. The on-trend boutique is doing a two-for-one trunk show featuring Sulu designs and Hubris Apparel from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 3.
Along with new fall pieces, both Sulu and Hubris will be bringing older collection pieces that will be priced to sell. Hubris Apparel is a locally made women’s ready-to-wear line with a focus on seasonless dressing (right).
We’re really feeling the bold, oversize style of Sulu’s “school year” earrings ($18, top pic). Reasonably priced and legitimate showstoppers at the same? That combo is no easy feat, friends. Our fall jewelry rotation just got a little beefier.
