Bargain Hunting 101 indie clearance sale Sunday
Super Bowl, Schmuper Bowl – let’s go shopping! More than 50 vendors will gather for Bargain Hunting 101, the mother of all Portland mega clearance sales, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Crystal Ballroom and Lola’s Room this Sunday, Feb. 7.The event, organized by Angie Heiney of Frock, Jen Neitzel of Knot Ugly and DIY Lounge and Julz Nally of Handmade Julz , originated several years ago at the Kennedy School in Northeast Portland, but quickly outgrew the space and moved to Crystal Ballroom.
“We started it because we wanted to have a large collaborative clearance event as a way to bring folks together to clear out the old, make room for the new, and turn old merchandise into cash,” said Heiney. “Plus, we love bringing so many different independent businesses together in one place. It’s great for the attendees to see things from lots of neighborhoods that they may not be familiar with.”
Heiney says everything is the sale is discounted – no regular priced items allowed – and you’ll find awesome prices on one-of-a-kind sale items, samples and limited-run pieces. Save on clothing, accessories, jewelry, gift items and more from 50-plus local and independent designers, including Alyson Clair, Allium Designs, Betsy & Iya, Billie Jo Retro, Bella Sisters, Ellington, Erhart Streetwear, Frock, Moxie, Woolie Originals and more more more vendors here.
If you need even more shopping incentive, there also will be a full bar and big-screen TV playing the Super Bowl. And if you can’t attend the sale because you’re obligated to serve up weenies at some other Super Bowl party, save the date for the next bi-annual Bargain Hunting 101 sale, to be held on Sunday, August 15.
