Catlin Gabel’s last (and best) Rummage Sale
A cherished Portland tradition for 65 years, the annual Catlin Gabel School Rummage Sale is one of the largest in the world. Sadly, this year’s sale will be the last, so make sure to stop by the Expo Center to pay your respects and nab cool stuff, this Thursday, Nov. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 8.
Every year we hear stories of scores of designer duds unearthed from the mix of vintage and new clothing, furniture, housewares and antiques that fill 88,000 square feet at the Portland Expo Center. Shop the first day to find the best stuff. In years past we’ve seen Donald J. Pliner shoes, Christian Dior suits, Coach handbags and separates from Chanel, Armani, Pendleton, J. Crew – you name it.
More than 1,000 volunteers and students collect, sort, and arrange the massive sale each year, which nets more than $150,000 to be used for financial aid. That means while you’re helping yourself to some sweet deals and rare finds, you’re also helping students get a fine education. Neat!
