Sometimes the biggest shopping day of the year feels more like Bleak Friday than Black Friday, what with all the mad, greedy scrambling for deals, long lines and fist-fights errupting over video games and cashmere sweaters. Yick. Isn’t holiday shopping supposed to be fun? Wait – it can be!
As Black Friday fast approaches, some savvy Portland shops from both sides of the river have teamed up to offer a fun and fist-fight free East Meets West Black Friday Passport Shopping Event. Here’s how it works:
First, pick up a Shop Local Passport at any of the participating boutiques starting Monday, Nov. 23. Then, shop ongoing sales at the select boutiques from Friday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Nov. 29. If your passport is stamped at six or more of the boutiques, you’ll gain free entry to the East Meets West VIP after-party at The Cleaners at the Ace Hotel, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27. (If you come up short on passport stamps, the party entry fee is $5. They’re giving away prizes from all the boutiques at 9:30 p.m., so one way or another you gotta go!)
The passport sales break down like this:
Friday, Nov. 27 – 10 a.m. to noon, Buy One Get One 1/2 off; noon-8 p.m., save 20 percent storewide
Saturday, Nov. 28 – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., save 15 percent storewide
Sunday, Nov. 29 – noon-6 p.m., save 15 percent storewide
Plus, if you get your passport filled by the end of the weekend, you’ll get 10 percent off your entire purchase at each boutique, valid through the end of the year.
