Some of us are heading to the mall this weekend, while others are planning an old-fashioned stroll through the new-fashioned Pearl District. Most of the neighborhood’s shops, galleries and restaurants are getting together to offer a pleasant holiday shopping alternative to Black Friday mall madness, Friday, Nov. 27 to Sunday, Nov. 29.
Shops throughout the Pearl will be unveiling their holiday window displays and offering sales, specials and treats all weekend. Plus, the Pearl District tree lighting ceremony takes place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Jamison Square.
Many shops and restaurants are participating in a Holiday Pearl Pass, a shopping and savings pass you can pick up at participating retailers and use for deals and discounts starting today through January 3, 2010. Others are offering independent sales and specials. Shop Physical Element for 20 percent markdowns on select coats, dresses and tops, including new fashionable fleece jackets (right) from French label Cop.Copine (apparently “fashionable fleece” is not an oxymoron in France). Stop by Kanani Pearl Spa for a massage or facial and get a free body scrub. Or see Visage Eyewear for a Grochau Cellars wine tasting event all day Saturday.
