European-vibed lifestyle emporium Azzurro is on the move, and they’re now sitting pretty in a stylish new space in the Northwest Pearl industrial district. Previously housed on Northeast Fremont Street, Azzuro’s new location is more spacious and the concrete minimalism of the interior is a stark (and surprisingly soothing) contrast to the Old World French flea market feel to the goods they sell. To celebrate its new space, Azzuro will host une Fête Blanche, a white-themed soirée, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 7.
The grand opening event will include music (of the romantic variety, a rarity in Portland, n’est pas?), dancing, a menu of favorites from L’Etoile, libations and the ever-present boutique party staple: a raffle! The dress code for the affair is strictly white, and let it be known that those who play fast and loose with the fashion rules will be subject to much mockery and contempt. What can we say, dem’s the rules.
Azzurro, if you’ve never been, is an anomaly in the Portland shopping scene. Their unique selection of imported finds, both old and new, are reasonably priced and bring a much needed jolt of European sophistication to our Northwest lives. Look for Jars ceramics from Provence, Mau Post Industrial Folkwear, English shaving products, new shipments of antiques, Graf & Lantz felted totes and enticing new comestibles, among others. Really, you’ve just got to take a look for yourself. That’s how treasures are found, don’tcha know? Oui.
