Portland’s in-jean-ious denim shop Blake relocates

Blake Nieman-Davis, our favorite denim dude, has new digs. Nieman-Davis relocated his eponymous store, Blake , from its old location at 2285 N.W. Johnson St. to a snazzy new spot now open at 26 N.W. 23rd Place (alongside Twist in the old Smith & Hawken building).

Blake has dominated the local denim scene for the last seven years, but “the lease was up and to be honest, we’ve just outgrown that space,” Nieman-Davis said of the previous shop. At 3,700 square feet, the store’s new location is more than triple the size of the last space’s 1,050 square feet.

Expect about 15 new brands, such as DL 1961, James Jeans and Naem Denim Co. Nieman-Davis now carries about 70 total clothing brands, 40 of them denim. Plus, he’s bringing in antique home decor pieces from Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage to add to the mix, so you can dress up your house and your body in one quick stop.

In case you haven’t been “Blaked,” Nieman-Davis has a very, um, hands-on approach to ensuring a fabulous fit.

“My process requires a lot more time having me explain and talk to you and sort of talk you off the ledge, but I think, ultimately, people are happier with their jeans for the long run,” he said.

And did we mention there is parking? Wait, we have to go now. We hear new jeans calling.
