It’s hard to imagine a time when everything wasn’t able to be delivered straight to your door with the click of a button or instant download. Instant entertainment already is available via programs like Netflix, and handy gadgets including Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad, but now there is one more neat fish in the super-convenient amusement sea: BookSwim! It’s like Netflix, but but with books, so avid readers take note.

Sure, some books we want to buy and have a long term relationship with, but much of the time we’re just looking for more of a one night stand (not to sound like a book-slut or anything). BookSwim is a perfect way to read a huge variety of books, minus the commitment and high price tag. It’s basically one big fully stocked online library you can visit without leaving your sofa.

Taking a cue from the successful business model of Netflix, Bookswim brings the latest bestsellers to your door for a low monthly price. There are several packages available (it seems families get the best deals here in terms of the number-of-books-to-monthly-fees ratio), and there are no shipping costs and no library waiting lists. Plus, if you’re a purist who can’t stand reading more than a couple of pages on a screen, it’s nice to have an easy way to get actual hardcover paper-bound BOOKS in your hands. (Kindle schmindle, meh.)

Vacation time is nigh, so start your beach reading list now. There are tons of fun new fashion-y and beachworthy books out now to inspire you, and they seem to carry everything from serious page-turners to lighthearted, trashy romps. Speaking of trashy romps, how cool that you can rent-n-read embarrassingly trashy titles and then ship ‘em back before anyone finds out. Shhhhhh…
