Fashion fans and music lovers packed into Fez Ballroom Saturday night for Doom Town Productions’ annual Sweet F.A. Rock ‘n Roll Fashion Show, a madcap celebration of killer music, offbeat fashion and some of Portland’s most rockin’ people.
The event was staged to look like the chaotic aftermath of a turn-of-the-century celebration, and the energetic fashion show featured daring designs by local talents Alyson Clair, Adam Andreas, Alexis Buck, Flood Clothing, Amy Elizabeth Couture and more, plus music from The Upsidedown and DiscJockey Gregarious.
As in years past, we were treated to lots of leather, short shorts, mini skirts, hot pants, slink jersey dresses and bustiers, most accessorized with tattoos and punky hair. However, the designs put forth this year also felt more sophisticated. Still sexy and often outrageous (hello, pleather catsuit with ruffles), but with a slightly more serious emphasis on design. That’s a great indication Portland’s fashion scene is growing up, while still having a good time.
The Neat Sheet’s photographer friend Nicole Cook, who was shooting for Roll35.com, shares with us these pics from the show:
