Lucky me! I had the pleasure of going on a recent beach retreat with my BFF, Laura, who coincidentally turned up in the same red hot Jantzen swimming suit I wrote about for my Neat Sheet column in June. Sadly, the column was cut before it could run (issues, issues, economy, blah blah), but with the rebirth of my Neat Sheet blog, now I can tell you about it here.

Jantzen, the local swimwear label launched in 1910 and famed for its diving girl logo, is no longer headquartered in Portland. But you can still find glamorous, retro-inspired Jantzen suits at Popina Swimwear. Snap up this racy red Vamp suit, or shop for other styles designed by Popina owner Pamela Levenson. Custom swimwear is available, too, so you’re sure to find a flattering fit.

Laura cried out “I look like a movie star!” when she slipped into the Vamp suit this weekend, and then we took a gazillion bathing beauty pictures of her because she SO did. I’d show them to you, however I’d like her to remain my BFF and I’m already going to get hell for telling you about her ‘movie star’ quote. But trust me, she looked hotter than Drew Barrymore in those ’40s era East Hampton bathing suit scenes from “Grey Gardens.” So git yourself to Popina! (Crazy mother sold separately).
