We love it when accidentally amazing Neat STREET style stories happen. Intrepid Neat Sheet fashion intern Sora Yi was out shopping when her arrow-sharp fashion sense honed in on Anna Branch, a designer relations assistant for Portland Fashion Week. Do we know how to spot ‘em or what?
Branch was passing by the old Meier & Frank warehouse building at Northwest 14th and Everett Streets on her way to a friend’s house after school, and Yi nabbed her on the spot to get her story and ask about her imaginative getup.
“I absolutely love this old Meier & Frank building,” Branch said. “I walk by it almost every day. I wish someone would come in and restore it. Maybe turn it into a hotel or an amazing shopping venue. Or even better, a wholesale market would be fantastic in there. I wondering what it looks like inside? There’s just something so beautiful about it.”
(By the way, the building has just been snatched up by Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas, which is not exactly going to realize Branch’s shopping dreams, but it’s still a great thing for P-town.)
There’s something beautiful about Branch, too. She loves funky old clothing and accessories as much as she loves funky old buildings. Her pretty in pink-and-gray outfit this day consisted of two layered dresses, both by Kimchi & Blue from Urban Outfitters, paired with vintage boots and a bag from Buffalo Exchange. She topped the look with a black knit blazer also from Buffalo Exchange, a vintage floral belt from The Red Light Clothing Exchange, Ralph Lauren sunglasses and vintage necklaces and bangles she received as gifts.
And let’s not forget hair is an accessory, too. So what of those luscious locks? “Ray Radtke at Mr. Poe’s Salon does my hair,” Branch said. “He’s seriously brilliant!” Thx for the tip, Anna!
