spanx-for-men-underwear-portland-pdxneatsheetHoly man boobs! SPANX shapewear, a.k.a. every woman’s slimming secret, launched a new Spanx for Men collection of men’s compression undershirts today.

Designed in high-stretch cotton with invisible seams, not unlike the women’s wear, the goal for men is to make the chest look firm, flatten the stomach, improve posture and support the lower back. In other words, to help men hide the fact they’ve spent the last three months slouched on the couch watching football and drinking beer.

“Men’s undershirts have been underperforming for as long as they’ve been around, with stretched out necks and bulky cuts that do nothing for the male physique,” said Spanx founder Sara Blakely in a press release announcing the collection. “The men in my life (and in Hollywood) have been asking me to make Spanx for men for years, so I was inspired to create comfortable and powerful undershirts that provide instant gratification without gimmicks. It’s your favorite T-shirt without your least favorite part… love handles.”

Three new styles are available for men, including a crewneck T-shirt, a V-neck T-shirt and a classic tank (left). Place pre-orders online today and they’ll be shipped in four to six weeks. (Sorry, there goes the opportunity to give the gift of skinny for Valentine’s Day).

Spanx for Men will be available exclusively at Neiman Marcus starting Monday, March 15, which isn’t of much use to Portlanders. But then again, that’s ok. Don’t we love our men’s handles just the way they are?
