Fashion truly has gone to the dogs.
If all the cool cats will excuse us for just a moment, we need to discuss canine style. Because not only do stylish Portland pet owners know it’s a dog’s world out there, but so does author and famed pet lifestyle expert Wendy Diamond.
Diamond, editor of Animal Fair Magazine and a frequent national TV contributor, has released a new book for dog owners (which she co-authored with her Maltese, Lucky) that is designed to be both playful and practical. “It’s a Dog’s World: The Savvy Guide to Four-Legged Living,” will especially appeal to Portlanders, where about 70 percent of us own pets – and we’re guessing about half of those are happy to dress ‘em up in little sweaters and parade them around.
Pet parents will find all kinds of information on how to take your pooch from shaggy to chic, including diet and exercise tips, grooming and mutt makeovers and, of course, fashionable accessories. Plus, there are some invaluable fashion tips for humans. For example, Diamond scolds us about wearing high heels to the dog park (but whyyyyyy not?????). And beneath all the fluff, there’s also a serious side encouraging folks to get involved with animal rescue efforts, fostering and pet adoption.
