Denim + leggings = Neat “Jeggings” trend to watch

And on the eighth day, the fashion gods created jeggings, the stylish hybrid that gives you the look of denim with the comfort of leggings. These babies may have been popular across the pond for a while now, but they have officially hit it big here in Portland. It seems like overnight they’ve gone from impossible to find anywhere except online to being stocked in every store (indie or chain) in Portland.
While you may hate the name, jeggings are undeniably style-friendly. They look sleek, modern, and hug the body’s curves like no pair of jeans ever could. One doesn’t need to fear the dreaded (and still very real) muffin-top demon because of the delightful stretch factor in every pair.
Sally Schwartz, owner of Pin-Me Apparel on Mississippi Avenue, offered up some advice for those unsure of what to pair with denim-look leggings. She says, “They are great with the tunic trend because they don’t show any of the bumps that come from the extra fabric in a pair of jeans. They have clean design lines and lay flat under a longer top. Plus, they look great tucked into a pair of boots.”
Even if you’ve vowed to never let an abomination, freak-of-nature, cross-breed like jegging near your person, you might be surprised if you actually try them on. They are extremely flattering on most body types and just really, really super comfortable without looking sloppy. Cheers to that.

Pin-Me Apparel has a cute western-inspired pair by Prairie Underground (above right) for $110.
Parallel in Northwest Portland carries a line of ankle length knit denim-look leggings by Bobi, which can be yours for $44.
Nordstrom carries the Hue brand of Skinny Jeanz leggings in denim, coral and white (pictured above), with cute little back pockets, for just $34.
Free People Boutique has got some great options for $78, available in black and indigo.
Macy’s has got jegging-fever, with styles from INC, Calvin Klein, DKNY and many more ranging from $49-$69.
Finally, for the bargain hunter in all of us, Old Navy has the trend covered and offers up jeggings at a mere $16.50.

Jean leggings are an unusual look…a nice look for jean leggings might be with a skirt over the top.
We just got in a turquoise pair of the jean leggings at Nordstrom! These jean leggings are definitely a must have! I have seen people of all body types try them on and they always look great! Very comfortable, makes your figure flatering, do not stretch out like your average jean does. I love them and you will too! Come in and try them on!
I think I have 5 pairs of “jeggings” already. Making me too comfortable to wear my regular jeans!
